Brodhead Road Corridor Study
Beaver County, PA
The Brodhead Road corridor study area spans 11 miles and is located within three municipalities. The project team evaluated the corridor and recommended improvements to achieve the project’s goals of improving:
- Mobility – improvements to regional mobility and access
- Operations – congestion reduction, system reliability & safety
- Growth – economic & community development
- Plan – land-use planning
- Distribution – goods & freight movement
- Facilities – bicycle, pedestrian & transit facilities
- Livability – quality of life & community health outcomes
A robust public and stakeholder engagement effort collected insight on a wide range of topics as well as site-specific challenges. With the needs defined, the Steering Committee evaluated alternatives for improvements in the following locations along the corridor:
- Center Township Commercial Area
- Center Township Residential and School Area
- Aliquippa Commercial Area
- Hopewell Township School and Shopping Center Area
- Five Points Area
Actual project time frames, priorities & funding decisions depend on factors beyond the scope of this study, such as agency priorities, funding availability, local/regional developments and associated infrastructure needs, future feasibility or conceptual design considerations and overarching competition among local, regional and statewide transportation goals.
