We thoughtfully incorporated this new Intermediate Elementary School into the existing School District campus. This undeveloped site was planned to accommodate a multi-level building, with separated bus/parent traffic, extensive parking, and a large, multi-purpose field.
The environmental context included streams and wetlands that were preserved in the design, and became accessible to students for learning. Rain gardens were utilized extensively for stormwater management, and became learning magnets for students.
A large playground was designed to accommodate the increased student population, and featured pavement games that encourage running, raised vegetable and herb gardens, and traditional climbing and other playground structures.
